Before setting up Spotlights with Alan and Monnie, Faye studied drama at Manchester University and even shared a classroom Benedict Cumberbatch! Faye completed a post-graduate Diploma in Acting at Drama Studio London. Faye has worked professionally as an actress in theatre, film, television and voice over including performing plays in the West End and touring nationally.
Alongside acting Faye has always been passionate about teaching with over 15 years experience working in primary, secondary and performing arts schools. Faye teaches the LAMDA exam syllabus at Spotlights and is proud of the consistent high grades Spotlights students have achieved. Faye has also worked with over 10,000 pupils in primary schools across the UK using drama role-play to tackle bullying through sister company – Anti-Bullying Workshop.
Alan runs the Spotlights office and is always on site at the weekend to address any parents’ queries. Before setting up Spotlights with Faye and Monnie, Alan worked in the oil industry as a Commercial Manager. Alan has always had an interest in performing arts and in particular the technical challenges of putting on a show. Alan is an accomplished and creative photographer having trained with some of the best professionals in the business. Alan is a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers and has won awards for some of his work. Alan is also a videographer and enjoys working closely with the sound, lighting and technical crew during show term.
Monnie started her performing arts training at the tender age of 2. Monnie focuses on the Little Stars curriculum and enjoys planning fun classes for each term’s theme. As well as setting up Spotlights, Monnie works as a Media Consultant for clients such as Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Monnie also looks after all the agency work that Spotlights students do and loves the challenge of working with casting directors to provide talented students that fit the brief of a casting call.
James is an experienced singer and teacher who studied at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. After graduation in 2009, James has continued to further his musical knowledge and understanding of vocal techniques. As a teacher he endeavours to understand the voice and the anatomy behind it. James has taught singing across London and Kent for stage schools, singing groups and performing arts groups. He is keen to create platforms for young singers and has previously organised cabarets and fundraising events. James always considers each pupil individually.
Melissa received a scholarship to attend the London Contemporary Dance School. Graduating with a First Class honours degree Melissa went on to perform with many dance companies including JazzXChange at the London Royal Opera House.
Melissa was a founder member of SmallPetitKlien Contemporary Dance Company performing in London venues.
Melissa has travelled extensively throughout Europe with Fire Of Dance performing works from Fame, Stomp, Riverdance, Mama Mia and Tap Dogs. Melissa also appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webbers Starlight Express on tour in Bochum Germany.
Melissa also has numerous TV credits including the original Pop Idol advert and Arlene Phillips ITV Britannia High series.
From an early age Gemma has been passionate about musical theatre and dance.
As a teenager Gemma moved to London to pursue a career in performing arts. She trained in professional dance and musical theatre at the Urdang Academy.
Credits whilst in training include 'Val' in 'A Chorus Line' and 'Rosemary' in 'How to Succeed in Business without really trying'.
Gemma has also performed Live on the BBC in the Children in Need Opening number and performed at countless sporting events and charity gigs both with the Midnight Heat Dancers and Momentum.
Each week Gemma looks forward to teaching at Spotlights as it is such an enjoyable and rewarding experience watching the younger generation learn, achieve and grow into fantastic young performers.
Shervin loves working with the Little Stars and watching their confidence grow each week.
Shervin studied at Central St Martins before working as a Little Stars teacher at Spotlights. Shervin is very creative and responsible for the design of the Spotlights logo. Shervin is also training as a personal trainer and has an interest in how dance can improve physical fitness.
Sam has a BTEC in Performing Arts and has completed many of years of training including Singing Exams to Grade 8. In his spare time Sam loves to continue with his tap dance training. Alongside Spotlights Sam is a teaching assistant in a local primary school.
Laura is an actress and has worked extensively in television and theatre since she was in her early teens, most notably as the longstanding regular character Cully Barnaby in ITV’s Midsomer Murders. She has appeared in recurring roles in Soldier Soldier (Central Television) and Young Dracula (CBBC), leading roles in Jack Rosenthal Screen One films (BBC) and short films for Brag Productions and RSA Films, as well as numerous guest appearances for the BBC and ITV. Laura's theatre credits include productions at the Donmar Warehouse, Chichester Festival Theatre, Watford Palace and Liverpool Playhouse, and premiers of new writing at Theatre Royal Stratford East and HighTide Festival. She has also toured the UK in shows for The English Touring Theatre, Northern Stage, Touring Consortium and for Sir Alan Ayckbourn.
Whilst studying at Glasgow University way back in the last century Patti had an evening job at the internationally renowed Citizens Theatre in Glasgow. During her time there she was encouraged by the directors to train professionally as an actress so joined The Acting Company run by David Harris (Arts Ed Schools).Since then she has appeared in most of the major rep houses in the U.K plus Londons West End. Recently she has begun TV work with parts in Torchwood,Doctors and Young Dracula and can be currently seen in the world's longest running TV drama Coronation Street where she plays series regular Mary Taylor. Patti is extremely proud and honoured to be a patron of Spotlights Theatre School.
